Bumble Bee Crafts
April is almost over, and we want to finish learning about our plants and pollinators with our Bumble Bee Crafts project. It has been a journey from how our seeds grow to actually watching them grow. They are growing more like weeds. We also learned about how some of our bug friends help to give us food to eat. As much fun as we had in April, we are looking forward to May. Not only will we enjoy warmer weather, but the new and exciting arts and craft projects we have coming up. But let’s focus on today.
We are finishing our plants and pollinator series with our bumble bees. When completed, this little guy will look like he is covered in pollen. We used some yellow craft paint and Decker sponges to make this pollen look. This small textured sponge is perfect for those little hands. To make the sponges easier to use, sometimes we cut the sponge in half. They are easy to clean. With a little bit of soap and water, the sponges are as good as new. Or, even easier, pitch the sponge if your little one does not give you the time for cleanup.
We simply use the sponge to paint our bumble bee. This is a great craft if you’re in a bit of a time crunch, or you’re teaching a large group. Children love how they can completely control the sponges on their own.
