Wacky and Fun Holidays in July

Did you know that there is a holiday just about every day of the year? Some are traditional, and others are wacky and fun. Some are by country, and others are international. For instance, July is International Boredom Month. If you have been following us for a long time, you know we are all about keeping your little artist busy.

On today’s post we are going to make some crafts based on some of these wacky and fun holidays. For example, July 7th is International Cookie Day. While we know in some parts of the world July is too hot to celebrate Turn on the Oven Month (insert giggles here), we decided to craft up a batch of our favorite cookies. No oven required!

Cookie Craft Project

Supplies:

  1. Copy of cookie
  2. Mini chocolate chips
  3. Oatmeal
  4. Glue

Directions:

  1. Print off cookie pattern.
  2. Glue the chocolate chips and oatmeal to cookies.

We have an entire category designated for our next wacky and fun holiday. July 20th is Space Day. To find all of our Outer Space projects, click HERE.

We simply love this collection of projects. It is a great way to learn science through art. Today we have chosen to make our entire Solar System in this fun headband craft project. Your little artists can learn all the names of the planets while making and wearing their own Solar System crowns.

Solar System Crown Craft Project

  1. Copy of planets
  2. White card stock paper
  3. Markers or Crayons
  4. Scissors
  5. Glue stick
  6. Construction paper 12″x18″

Directions:

  1. Print planets onto card stock paper.
  2. Color and cut out.
  3. Cut a 1″ long strip out of construction paper. Fit to child’s head.
  4. Glue planets onto strip of construction paper.
  5. Glue the ends of strip of construction paper to form a crown.
  6. Wear.

We hope you had fun exploring these wacky and fun holidays with us through art. I hope however you choose to celebrate these days, that you will be telling your little artist, “You’re so creative!”
