Turkey Lovers Month

Did you know June is Turkey Lovers Month? It’s funny the things you learn about while running a website! Let’s learn some fun and crazy facts about the turkey. For instance, did you know turkeys are native to North America, but made it to Europe back in the 1500’s? No, they didn’t fly there, mostly because they aren’t very good at flying. They set sail to Europe in Spanish explorers’ ships.

For our readers in the United States, did you know Ben Franklin wanted the turkey as your national bird, not the bald eagle? We hope this inspires you to learn more about these large birds. In the meantime, let’s make a few.

We are painting, really reverse painting, our first turkey project. Little artists love reverse paintings, because, even if they are not in complete control of their artistic skills, they can master this technique easily. Little hands. Big results!
