Let’s set sail with free Pirate Crafts for Children

Pirate Crafts for Kids

AAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! Ye matey. We are shoving off and setting sail by making pirate crafts for children today. Kids love to pretend and today’s newsletter is sure to help. With summertime here, it is a great time to have fun with pirates. Today we will share a few of our pirate themed crafts that are sure to have your little artists dreaming about sailing the seven seas.

If we are going to pretend to be pirates today we have to look the part. In our first project we are making and wearing out own pirate hats.

Next, we are cutting out and wearing an eye patch. It is said pirates did not wear eye patches because they were missing an eye. They were worn over one eye to switch to and from decks. One eye uncovered above decks to see in the sun. The covered eye used below decks to see in darker areas. If you have ever come inside on a bright sunny day you can see how smart the pirates were.

Now that we look like pirates we have to travel like one too. In our third craft, we are making ships to pretend to sail across the ocean. This project is a great way to sneak in a little science and engineering. We use Newton’s third law, for every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction to make our boat move. Plus a little engineering to build our boats. Now let us set sail on this next craft.

We hope your little artist didn’t make you walk the plank but had lots of fun. I know you will be sure to tell your little pirate, ‘You’re so creative!’
