The first week in August is known as International Clown Week. This fun and wacky holiday started as National Clown Week in the United States back in the 1950’s. It was a group of Clowns writing their representatives that turned this into an International celebration in 1967. So let’s pay tribute to our clown friends by making a few craft projects.
Clowns make us laugh and smile with their silly haircuts. In this project your little artist can use safety scissors and some rainbow yarn to give the Clown its own crazy style.
Clown-
Supplies:
- Copy of Clown Face
- Markers or Crayons

Every Clown needs a place to perform, right? Most clowns perform at a Circus in a Circus tent. In our next project we are designing a Circus Tent.
Circus Tent-

- Copy of Tent
- Red Construction Paper
- Safety Scissors
- Glue Stick

Now we have learned what clowns look like and where they perform let’s learn how to be one. Grab a roll of making tape and either heard to a paved driveway or tiled floor. Use the masking tape to make a ‘Tight Rope’ on the ground. You can make as many different obstacle courses as you would like. You can even have them done backwards. Teach your little artist how to walk on a ‘Tight Rope’ just like a Clown.
We hope you had fun celebrating International Clown Week. I know we learned a lot about our frizzy haired friends. However you celebrate I know you will tell your little artist ‘You’re so creative!’
