International Bee Day

Monday, May 20th is International Bee Day. The little bee is so important to every living creature on this planet. Without the busy little bee, we would not have any food. It is important to teach our little artist why it is important to ‘bee’ kind to our little friends.

Today we are going to make three projects to celebrate the bee. First, we are going to design and paint a bee. Then we’ll build a beehive to learn where they live; and last, we’ll plant flowers to feed our bees.

Let’s have fun ‘painting’ pollen onto this bumble bee. Teach your little artist about how bees collect pollen from all the flowers, then return to their hives with it.

Bumble Bee Craft Project

Supplies:

  1. Card stock
  2. Sponges
  3. Small paper plate
  4. Yellow paint

Directions:

  1. Print bumble bee onto card stock.
  2. Pour small amount of yellow paint onto paper plate.
  3. Dip sponge into paint and sponge paint bumble bee.

After you have put pollen on your bee, it’s time to learn about where they take it. It is time to make and learn about the beehive.
