Mother’s Day Crafts
Where would we be without our mothers? Well not here. I know bad joke. We receive a lot of requests for mother’s day crafts this time every year. But lately, there have been a lot of questions about what to do for those that do not have mothers. Some mothers are angels, some children have two dads or even two moms. Some children live with grandparents, aunts, or uncles. More families are nontraditional these days and as long as there is love there is a family.
The answer we came up with is you keep making beautiful fun crafts. Children love to make gifts for their ‘big people’ no matter the label. Your messages and emails inspired us to make a new category called Grandparents & Parents Day Crafts. We will still have a theme for Mother’s Day Crafts. But we thought we can add a few new ideas for other members of the family.
Let’s get started today making a few of our Mother’s day crafts.
Who doesn’t want to be treated like royalty for a day? In our first craft, we are using handprints to make a crown. Click the image to see how we made this project.

We are still using our handprints to make our next project. We call this next craft a hug. Children can make as many ‘hugs’ as they like and give them away. Make sure you have extra supplies on hand sometimes the artist likes making one for everyone in the family.

Mother’s Day Crafts would not be complete without making a card. In our final craft for today, we are helping little artists make this three dimensional butterfly card.

So our answer to the question, ‘what do to do for nontraditional families?’ It is to make to more crafts. Make two for two dads or two for two moms. Create something for grandmas and grandpas. Make something for everyone. No matter what your little artist makes we know you will remember to tell them, ‘ You’re so creative!’
