Halloween Craft Projects for Kids

With October here, we are busy making Halloween craft projects. We’re in full Halloween decorating mode! Whether you are decorating a home or an entire classroom, we know these projects will help add some fun.

We are decorating from the top down, starting by making and hanging these bats from the ceiling. You can make one or an entire colony. Let’s gather up those cardboard tubes and get started!

Bat-

Supplies:

  1. Paper plate
  2. Toilet paper tube
  3. Newspaper
  4. Black paint
  5. Paint brush
  6. Scissors
  7. Glue
  8. Google eyes

Directions:

  1. Spread newspaper over work surface.
  2. Cut paper plate in half.
  3. Scallop the curved part of plate and cut small slits the width of tube.
  4. Cut curve in top of one end of the toilet paper tube and slits down each side.
  5. Paint toilet paper tube and paper plate.
  6. Let dry.
  7. Slide the pieces together to make bat.
  8. Glue on eyes.

Next, we are decorating the walls with these spooky ghost paintings. Your little artist is sure to have fun using a reverse painting technique to make this project.

Ghost Painting

Supplies:

  1. Card stock
  2. Scissors
  3. Ghost pattern
  4. Sponges
  5. White paint
  6. Black paper
  7. Small plate
  8. Optional: Plastic eyes
  9. Optional: Glue

Directions:

  1. Before you bring in the little hands, use the pattern to cut out a ghost from the poster board.
  2. Help hold the poster board ghost onto the black paper. Have the child sponge paint all around the ghost.
  3. Lift the ghost and you’re all done!
  4. Optional: Glue on plastic eyes.

*Note 1: The poster board can be reused over and over to make more.

*Note 2: Decorate the poster board ghost as well.

Things are starting to look a little spooky! Next we are making Frankenstein’s monsters to go on our desks and table. This 3D craft project is sure to refine your little artist’s small motor skills.

Frankenstein’s Monsters

Supplies:

  1. Copy of Frankenstein
  2. Card stock
  3. Glue stick
  4. Green bingo dauber

Directions:

  1. Print copy of Frankenstein onto card stock paper.
  2. Use the bingo dauber to paint Frank.
  3. When dry, glue into a cylinder shape.

Last, we are decorating ourselves! In this project we are making and wearing a skeleton mask. Your little artist is sure to have fun wearing it.

Skeleton Mask

Supplies:

  1. Copy of mask
  2. Safety scissors
  3. Scissors
  4. Stapler with staples
  5. Ribbon
  6. White card stock

Directions:

  1. Print copy of skeleton mask onto card stock.
  2. Have your little artist carefully cut out the mask.
  3. An adult can cut out eye holes.
  4. Cut ribbon to staple onto each side of the mask.
  5. Wear.
