Thanksgiving Crafts

In the United States, you might be thinking ahead to Thanksgiving. While your mind might be on the dinner and all the trimmings we are thinking of decorations. These craft projects are sure to add beauty to your table. Also, they might keep your little ones busy and out of the kitchen.

First, we are making a leaf wreath to welcome friends and family to your home. Your little artist will refine small motor skills while gluing leaves onto the wreath. You may choose to make a colorful wreath with foe leaves. Like in the picture below. Or you may take a walk with the children and collect natural leaves. Click the link for step by step directions.

Next, we are turning our little artists into little engineers. We are using simple engineering skills to build and make this turkey bag. For younger children I prep and make the bag ahead of time and let the child glue on feathers. For older children, I let them cut, fold, and glue on their own. For a variation of this project, you could ask the children what they are thankful for and write it on the feathers. As a family project have everyone write what they are thankful for and place it in the bag.

We are keeping our engineering hats on for today’s final craft. Using Newton’s third law of every reaction has an equal and opposite reaction to make this ship. We are crafting our own Mayflower ship and sailing it across the sea of imagination. Click the image below for more information.
