Sunshine Crafts
Here comes the sun. Well, sunshine crafts anyways. We thought with the summer solstice just around the corner it was the perfect time to make some sunshine crafts. In today’s projects, we will have your little artists cutting, ripping, painting, and sculpting different sun designs. Let’s gather up those art supplies and get creative.
In our first craft depending on your artist’s skill level, you can have them rip or cut bits of tissue paper to design a mosaic sun. You could also use different shades of sun color tissue paper and learn about layering to create different colors. Click the link for the free printable pattern.

Next, we are mixing up a little color theory. In this project, we give artists both yellow and orange washable paint. Then have the children paint the sun with both colors exploring what happens next. Some little artists will keep the colors separate while others will mix them all together. Either way, it is art. Up next. we are turning your little artists into little engineers. Through this art project, your little artists will learn about spheres. We are using paper circles to engineer a three dimensional sun. Click the image below to find out how.

Our final craft can be done in two different ways. The older artist may want to trace and cut out their hand prints to make this sun craft. While the younger artists may find it easier to use their hands in paint. You know your artists the best. Click the image to find out just how we made today’s final project.
