Saint Patrick’s Day Crafts
We are looking forward to spring and of course Saint Patrick’s Day. Last month we learned little about Saint Valentine this month it is Saint Patrick. While most of us think of this Saint as Irish you might be surprised to learn he was actually Roman. This holiday has been celebrated for over a thousand years as a day to break with lent, have fun, and celebrate. While there are tons of myths and legends celebrating this holiday we are celebrating with what we do best, with Saint Patrick’s Day crafts.
In our first craft, we are making the unofficial plant of Ireland, a shamrock/clover. It is said that Saint Patrick used this plant to teach his message across the country. To make this project please click the image below.
Cupcake Shamrock Craft Project
We dive into more of the myths and legends surrounding Ireland. Irish folklore said that “fairies put a pot of gold coins at the end of each rainbow with leprechauns guarding it.” Irish folklore further states that there is one gold coin in the leprechaun’s pot for each year he has lived. We are going to make some crafts that might lead us to our pot of gold. First, we must follow the rainbow. Let’s begin with this fun card painting technique to make our own rainbow. This is a fun coordination craft. Each one comes out so different. Click the link to find out more.
Rainbow Craft Project
Now that we have followed the rainbow legend says that a leprechaun will be guarding the pot. In this next project, we use your little artist’s fingerprints to give this leprechaun his beard. Click the image to find out more.
Leprcahuan Saint Patrick Craft
We have wandered through the shamrocks, followed the rainbow, and met with a leprechaun. Now we have found the pot of gold. Well, almost we have to add our gold to the pot. If glitter scares you try glitter glue. The glitter is trapped inside the glue even after it drys. Click the image below to make this project.
