Rainforest Crafts
This week we are celebrating World Rainforest Day. The first World Rainforest day was on June 22, 2017. It was started to help raise awareness and action to help protect the world’s rainforests. We use our Rainforest crafts to help teach little artists about the environment. In our first project, we are helping to turn any room into your own rainforest with vines.
Vine Craft Project
Now that your room is full of vines it is time to add some animals you might see on the vines. Like, our two-toed sloth’s craft. For the younger artists, I like to print the sloth onto light brown paper and cut it out. It helps add color for those little artists that are still working on refining small motor skills. Older students may want to color their own sloth. To print this sloth click the image below.

Maybe your little monkeys might want to make their own to hang from the vines. Click the image below to make your own.

Another animal you might find hiding in the vines, and also makes a really great addition to your rainforest is a Boa Constrictor. This is a great project for scissor skills. It is okay if they come out a little imperfect. It is fun for the artist to try. Click the image below to make this snake craft.

Now that the ceiling is thoroughly decorated let’s add some color to the walls. In the Amazon rainforest, there are beautiful blue giant butterflies. While the real one can grow up to 12 inches we decided to make ours even larger. When completed this craft is almost two feet by two feet. Little artists love it when the finished projects are almost as big as they are. Click the image below to find out more.

All of these crafts are sure to make your room look like a rainforest. Now let us turn your little artist into part of it too. In this next project, we are making frog headbands. We use brightly colored cardstock to make them look just like the real dart frogs.

We hope you had fun bringing the Amazon to your little artist with our rainforest crafts. I know when you are done you will tell your little artists, “You’re so creative!”
