Frog Crafts
We love everything frog around here. Every March 20th we like to make some of our favorite frog crafts to celebrate Frog Day. This fun and wacky holiday has been celebrated since 2009. It was started to raise awareness about this amphibian.
To help raise awareness we thought we would share some fun facts about the frog-
- The largest breed of frog is the Goliath frog. Weighing in at 7 pounds and is about the size of a house cat.
- There are over 6,000 know speices of frogs in the world.
- Frogs are a hibernating speices.
- They drink through the skin.
- You might know frogs jump. But, most jump up to 20 times thier body legth. Makes you wonder how far that Goliath frog can jump?
Now that we know some fun facts let’s make a few frog crafts.
In our first project, we are turning our little artist into a frog. We are making these cute frog crowns. If you would like to turn this craft into a lesson you could measure the height of the child. Then measure 20 times the height. You can then give your little artist a visual of how far they could jump if they were a frog.

Frog Headband Craft Project
Next, we are having fun making our own Goliath Frogs. This project is a great way to sneak in a little color mixing. It is fun for each artist to pick two colors for the frog. Then revealing what new color it made when they pressed them together. It is sometimes fun to make multiples of this project just to see how each one comes so very different. Frog Craft Project
Sometimes it is just fun to play with frogs. We have used these little toys in our treasure boxes or to play games with. You can measure which ones jump the farthest etc. Either way, they add fun to any classroom.
