Nowadays it seems like every day of the year has a wacky and fun holiday. Today is no different. We are prepping crafts for National Bird Day on January 5th. We have a few dozen bird crafts on our site and decided to share some of our favorites by season.
This is a great time of year to feed and take care of our feathery friends. We have several bird feeders outside our window. Hope you have fun learning the names and watching them. You will be amazed at how excited your little artist will get seeing the birds up close. I highly encourage you to grab this bird feeder and enjoy it. Click HERE.
Looking to get up and moving? Maybe grab a pair of binoculars and go for a walk. There are great apps on smartphones that can tell you a little bit about each bird that you photograph.
If it is too cold where you live you can enjoy staying warm and cozy with these bird craft projects.
We are going to start with birds that might make you think of winter. Winter might have you thinking snow and cold depending on where you live. This got us thinking about penguins and snow owls. Click on the pictures below to make these cute feathered friends.
Penguin cutout-
Great craft for coloring and scissors skills.
Penguin heart-
Cute project for scissor skills and heart shape recognition.
Snow Owl-
We are giving lots of layers of feathers to this little snow owl.
In the spring the birds start to come back and enjoy the beautiful weather. In this next project, we start with a basic bird shape and let the little artist design his or her own bird. It can be one they know about or one that lives in the imagination.
Bird-
The summer birds have us thinking of exotic locations. These locations might have exotic birds like these. In this section, we are making peacocks and flamingos.
Peacock-
In this project we learn all the beautiful colors you might find on a peacock.
Flamingo-
Refining small motor skills while having fun in this flamingo craft.
The last season of the month, Autumn. Last fall we learned about the Canadian goose and how they flock together in Autumn. Today we are making one and this cute owl craft. These make great keepsakes as they use your child’s hand to make both.

Owl Bag-
We hope your little artist had fun learning with some of our bird crafts this week. If you are looking for a specific bird please try the search bar at the bottom of the page or ask us on Facebook. We are always interested in what your little artist wants to make. We want to help you tell your little artist, ‘You’re so creative!’
