Advent Calendar

With December starting soon, we thought it was time to make our Advent Calendar. In the words of our little artist, “A countdown to Christmas.” Your little artist will have fun making one or both of these calendars. We know this month moves in the blink of an eye for us adults, but moves really slowly for kids.

In our first Advent Calendar project, we will be using 24 hearts to count down the days, and a star to make Christmas Day. Glue one heart per day to the tree. On the last day glue on a star to represent that “Today is the day!”

Heart Tree

Supplies:

  1. Copy of tree
  2. Green construction paper
  3. Scissors
  4. Glue
  5. Gold star sticker

Directions:

  1. Print copy of tree.
  2. Cut 24 small heart shapes out of green construction paper.
  3. Glue hearts onto tree, one for every day.
  4. On day 25 place the star on top of the tree.
  5. Option: Write numbers one through twenty-four on the hearts.

In our second Advent Calendar craft project, we will be using your little artist’s hand prints. Cut out 24 hand prints, and every day add one more until you have a tree; on December 25th place a star on top.
