Free Kids Crafts To Celebrate Dr. Seuss’s Birthday

Happy almost Birthday Dr. Seuss. On March 2nd we will be celebrating the beloved author’s 116th Birthday this year.

Dr. Seuss has brought so much fun and laughter to classrooms and homes around the world. I know he is one of our favorites around here. I think I could almost quote the entire ‘Green Eggs and Ham‘ from memory.

There are over 60 children’s books written by Dr. Seuss. These are stories and books that never go out of style. Some books silly and others with good morals. The collection I have is still going strong after forty years and three generations. To add to or start your collections please visit HERE.

Over the years he has inspired many a craft for our little artist. We love working with the local libraries to pair up his stories with crafts. Today we will share a few that we love along with the stories that inspired them.

The Lorax is a great story with an underlying conservation message. We loved both the book and the movie. In our first few projects, we are making crafts inspired by The Lorax and Truffula Tree.

Every holiday season you might hear, “You’re a mean one mister Grinch…”

Some schools and daycare locations even have a week entirely dedicated to the Grinch. Wear green on one day, read the story or watch the movie the next. By the end kids learn how a ‘heart can grow three sizes in a day.’

We have a couple of our own Grinch inspired crafts to go along with this holiday tradition.

The Grump

Little artist will have fun making their grump green. Click the image to make your own.

Grumpy Bag

This next project makes great treat bags. Or maybe to wrap a hand made ornament in. If you have young artists, make the bag ahead of time and let the little artist have fun decorating it.
