Family Fun Month

The month of August is perfect for Family Fun Month. The weather is warm. There are not too many rainy days. It is a great time of year for doing anything outside. We love making happy memories and August is the perfect time of year for this. Let’s make some projects and have some family fun.

Like most families we love to go to the Beach. Long fun days playing in the sand and swimming it’s the best. Our first project is something you might play with at the beach, a beach ball. Your little artist will have fun making this Beach Ball puzzle.

Beach Ball Puzzle-

Supplies:

  1. Copy of Beach Ball
  2. Card Stock
  3. Safety Scissors
  4. Markers

Directions:

  1. Print Beach Ball onto Card Stock.
  2. Color.
  3. Cut out.

Maybe your family could have their own Luau. (A Hawaiian Party) Every Luau has great flower Leis. In our next project your little artist can make one for themselves and everyone in the family.

Lei-

Supplies:

  1. Copy of Flowers
  2. Construction Paper
  3. Scissors
  4. Glue Stick

Directions:

  1. Print out flowers onto Construction Paper and cut out.
  2. Cut strips of Green paper.
  3. Teach your little artist how to make paper chain. Glue the ends to make loop. Add another through the circle and glue the ends together. Make as long as you’d like.
  4. Glue Flowers onto paper chain.
  5. Wear.

Around our house this time of year we are probably getting ready to go camping. We love all the quality time we get to spend without technology. Our favorite thing to do while camping is to star gazing. In our next project we are making hooting Stars.

Shooting Star-

Supplies:

  1. Copy of Star onto color paper
  2. Copy of Spiral pattern onto color paper
  3. Glue
  4. Glitter
  5. Scissors
  6. Cotton Swab

Directions:

  1. Cut out Star
  2. Teach the children to use cotton swab to out glue onto star.
  3. Pick out a color glitter and sprinkle on star.
  4. Cut out the paper spiral.
  5. Glue the center of spiral to the back of the star and hang up.

The summer is the perfect time to watch and catch Lighting bugs. These glowing little bugs are fascinating. In our final project we are using glow in the dark glue to make our own Lighting bug.

Lighting bug-

Supplies Needed:

  1. Copy of Lightning Bug
  2. Gold Glitter  or  Glitter Glue
  3. Glow in the dark Glue
  4. Crayons
  5. Cotton Swab

Directions:

  1. Print off Lightning Bug.
  2. Have the children color their bug .
  3. Have children use a cotton swab to cover the tail with the glue.
  4. Sprinkle with glitter.
